Learn How To Test What Your Skin Type Is

in Skin-care

Before you begin any kind of skin treatment, it is important that you know the type of skin you have. Because different types of skin can actually have very different options for proper cleansing, and while skin quality and type is based on genetics, it doesn’t always mean that you and a sibling will share the same skin type. So, to help you determine the type of skin you have, take a clean Kleenex tissue when you get up in the morning and wipe down your face.  We’ll use this to get some base information about your skin type.
Those with normal skin will notice that the tissue is free from any oils. The feeling of their skin is very supple and will often have a good elasticity. As a rule, those who have this type of skin will notice less skin problems and will require only minimum maintenance to look and feel clean.
Dry skin will also come across as leaving no oil on the tissue. However, you will notice that your skin will appear flaky and will feel tight as well. Over time, dry skin that isn’t treated will begin to show signs of wrinkles and faster aging. Moisturizers should be applied to dry skin often to avoid future problems.
Oily skin in turn will show traces of oil on it. This condition is one of the most problematic for people as it does lead to acne and causes your pores to become enlarged. While you won’t have as many problems with aging and wrinkling, you will still need to have an oil free regimen to apply to your face regularly to keep it clean and free from many of the skin problems that may occur.
Of course, there are those who have skin that is a combination of all the different types. With this skin condition, the center area of your face will often be oily, but the cheeks and eye area will remain dry. This will often lead to wrinkles in the dry areas and they will need to be treated differently from the remainder of your face to ensure good skin health.
Finally, sensitive skin will be the other type of skin you will need to pay attention to. This skin type will often become scaly and reddish. In some cases, it may be itchy and have areas that will break out often. This type of skin will require unique care as it can be fragile and chemicals will often do more damage than good when treating it.
Once you have armed yourself with the knowledge of what your skin type is, you can then proceed to improve the health of it. This will also help you to determine what beauty products are going to be the best ones of you to use as well. Overall, keeping your skin healthy and vibrant will be a task that will be different for everyone. That means you will need to explore products beyond just what your friends and family may recommend, as those treatments may not give you the same result as a more suitable option that is tailored to your own skin type.
